Zoho Expands Fintech Presence With Launch of POS Devices; Arattai to Soon Integrate Zoho Pay

Zoho launches POS devices.

Zoho Corporation has taken a major step in strengthening its fintech footprint with the launch of its new Point-of-Sale (POS) devices. Announced by founder Sridhar Vembu on X (formerly Twitter), the devices are designed to help businesses accept in-person payments while staying connected to Zoho’s broader ecosystem.

Vembu emphasized that the move aligns with Zoho’s mission to expand its global fintech and payments operations. He also revealed that the company has partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India’s Bharat BillPay Limited (NPCI–NBBL) to address real-world business challenges and enhance India’s digital payment infrastructure.

This latest launch follows Zoho’s milestone achievement last year when it became an RBI-authorized payment aggregator and introduced its online payment solutions.

POS devices, which enable merchants to process sales transactions digitally, support payments through debit and credit cards, UPI, and mobile wallets, offering businesses a seamless alternative to cash transactions.

Arattai to Integrate Zoho Pay

In addition to the POS launch, Vembu announced that Zoho’s homegrown instant messaging app, Arattai, will soon integrate Zoho Pay, creating a unified experience for users within the Zoho ecosystem.

Arattai Experiences Explosive Growth

Arattai has recently witnessed a massive surge in user activity, with daily new sign-ups skyrocketing from 3,000 to 350,000 in just three days—a 100x spike. According to Vembu, the company is rapidly scaling up its infrastructure to manage a potential 100x increase on top of that surge.

“We have seen a 100x rise in Arattai traffic within three days. Our teams are working around the clock to add infrastructure and fine-tune the platform as we prepare for even greater growth,” Vembu shared on X.

He further noted that Zoho had initially planned a major Arattai release in November—featuring new capabilities, increased capacity, and a marketing push—but the sudden user spike accelerated the company’s operational efforts.
