Rivian Activates Apple Car Key Support for Its EV Lineup
Rivian has officially rolled out Apple Car Key support for its lineup of electric vehicles, bringing a new level of convenience to drivers who use iPhone and Apple Watch. The feature, which has been gradually expanding across automakers, allows users to unlock, lock, and even start their Rivian vehicles directly from their Apple devices.
According to the latest update, Rivian owners can now add their digital car key to the Apple Wallet app, enabling quick and secure access without needing a physical fob. The integration works via NFC and Ultra Wideband technology, ensuring both proximity accuracy and enhanced security.
This move places Rivian alongside other leading automakers such as BMW, Hyundai, and Kia, who have already adopted Apple’s Car Key functionality. For Rivian, the feature is a strategic step to improve its user experience and align with Apple’s growing ecosystem of connected services.
The rollout appears to be available for most R1T pickup and R1S SUV owners via the latest Rivian software update. Users can set up the feature by navigating to their Rivian app, selecting the digital key option, and adding it to Apple Wallet.
With this integration, Rivian strengthens its position in the EV market, not just as an electric vehicle manufacturer but also as a tech-forward mobility brand. The feature is expected to boost convenience for customers while expanding Apple’s influence in the automotive sector.
